📝 Growing Notes

Hazelnuts are multi-stemmed shrubs that make excellent forest-garden support species and can be coppiced regularly to produce flexible poles while maintaining root-zone nitrogen benefits. Two different varieties are needed for reliable nut production. Comfrey and clover are ideal companions as nitrogen-fixers and pollinator attractors.
