📝 Growing Notes
English walnut produces less juglone than black walnut but still presents allelopathic challenges for sensitive plants. Its thin-shelled nuts are commercially valuable and far easier to crack than black walnut. Carpathian-strain varieties are significantly more cold-hardy and are the best choice for zones 4–5.
